Today's the Day: THE GHOSTS OF BELFAST Published in the USA
Thursday, October 01, 2009, 11:00 AM
So, today is October 1st, and by debut novel THE GHOSTS OF BELFAST is officially published in the USA by Soho Crime, the respected independent New York press. I'd like to thank all at Soho, including my editor Laura Hruska, marketing director Ailen Lujo, and publicist Justin Hargett - you've all been a pleasure to work with so far.
Don't forget, there's a chance to win one of five signed copies of THE GHOSTS OF BELFAST in my previous post, as well as one of the very last copies of the limited edition signed and numbered short story collection, THE SIX.

:) Not too long now...
Once more for old-times' sake:
*flails pom-poms* You can do eet, Con-du-eet!
(Yeah; no one else is going to understand that.)
Congratulations, Stuart! And I hope your book is a big splash on this side of the Big Splash too! (I've smooth-talked my sister-who-lives-in-Georgia into buying it for me so I don't have to wait for the Canadian release date.)
Congratulations, Stuart! I've every confidence you're gonna light it up in the US just like you did back home. If I were you, I'd start building a mantle now to put all the awards on...
Congratulations, Stuart.
Congratulations!
Well done.
Looking forward to reading it some time in the future.
I am going to start it tonight, if the kids go to bed before midnight. Congratulations and looking forward to it.
Congratulations. I hope you have a great time on the tour.
Congrats, Stuart! Kind of sad you're not coming to Chicago, though.
Congratulations! :)
Such a fabulous book! And I really like the atmosphere of the GOB cover.
Congratulations, Stuart!!! I've already got my copy, and it's flippin' brilliant - reeled me in from the first chapter... and I have other stuff to do, damn it!
I still can't get over the fact that you're spending days in Indiana, and not making it out to Chicago. Seriously, we have way better seedy crime ridden landmarks:-)
Good luck with it and enjoy your time in the States.
Thanks everyone!
Stacy & Merry - I'm not doing any readings in Chicago, but I will be stopping off there for a few days' R&R at the end of the tour before flying home.
Tell me, is that Portillo's place any good?
Never tried Portillo's. But if you like thai, I'd suggest Duck Walk on Belmont, just west of Clark. They're inexpensive, but damn good. (I suggest the golden noodles, if you like slightly sweet dishes.)
There's also a great little used book store on the same block, run by a crotchety, retired truck driver. He never bothered to replace the "TOWN CLEANERS" sign above the store. That's how crotchety he is. He even insulted me the first time we met by suggesting I was homeless! I don't know. Maybe I needed a haircut. But now he gives me a discount just because he likes me.
I'm procrastinating finishing my work right now. At any rate, I highly recommend the experience.
